Kala Avishkar
Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Bharatanatyam exponent and
research scholar presented Kala Avishkar, the 4th Classical Dance
Children’s Festival, on 7th February, 2010. This was organised by
Shri Sarfojiraje Bhosale Centre’s Bharata College of Fine Arts
& Culture and Tejas Foundation, Mumbai, co-sponsored by
Sangeet Natak Akademi. The event showcased several dance styles
– Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi.
Ramayana was a popular presentation by the disciples of
Gayatri Subramanian, Takshashila Dance Academy, Vashi, that had
the audience reacting and applauding. The song, a composition of
Guru Rajee Narayan, Mumbai, offered good scope to the young girls,
to portray varying emotions. The characters of the epic, Sita, Lakshmana,
Bharata, Mareecha, Hanuman and others were all well projected.
Imaginative choreography by Gayatri and simple, yet pleasing lyrics
added colour to the presentation. The talented youngsters, Ayushi,
Aishwarya, Kruttika, Manisha, Meghna, Niyati, Nikita, Sahana, Sakshi,
Shruti, Shyama, Snigdha and Vaishnavi ended with a Tillana in
Brindavana Saranga.
